“Where Is Love?” | Reflecting on a Timeless Question

In 1968, the film adaptation of "Oliver!" introduced us to the beautiful song, "Where Is Love?" Its haunting melody and heartfelt lyrics ask a question that resonates beyond the screen: Where, “Indeed”, Is love? This simple and timeless question lingers in the heart, echoing across generations and circumstances. As I ponder this relevant question for today’s world, I’m struck by how universal it remains—reaching into every facet of human life and longing.
We search for love in our families, friendships, communities and country, and sometimes we find it in unexpected acts of kindness or in the quiet moments when someone simply listens and we are understood. Love, in its many forms, is both a shelter and a light. It is something that gives us strength when days are hard, and joy when life is stressful. Nowhere is love’s power more evident than in the embrace of family and community. Within these relationships, love becomes a steady force—holding us together through adversity. The small, daily gestures—an encouraging word, a helping hand, a warm embrace, a smile—are the threads that weave a family’s and a community’s tapestry, creating a foundation that endures through the inevitable storms of life.

"Where Is Love?" challenges us to look beyond the obvious, to open our hearts, and to nurture the connections that bring warmth and meaning to our lives. Perhaps the answer is closer than we think—it lives in the moments we cherish, in the hands we hold, and in the compassion we extend. I invite you to take a moment and ask yourself: Where do I see love in my world, and how can I share it with others? In seeking and sharing love, we help it grow, making our homes and our communities richer and more hopeful places in bright times and dark times.
Happy Valentine's Day! ♡
